JUNGBLUT2021 is a journal-style selection of commissioned and personal work produced in 2021. JUNGBLUT20xx is an annual volume dating back to 2013.

2021 was an odd year for me. I turned 40 and grappled with some fundamental questions. Clearly aided by a collective confusion on what is happening I took my foot of the gas a little and tried to get a zoomed-out perspective.
This image of actor Kevin Walsh struck me as a perfect cover for JUNGBLUT2021. There were many moments that felt like this in 2021. But there was also plenty of fun, exploration and grooviness to counter deep thoughts about existential issues.
From photographing Emi Matsushima who turned out to be friends with old friends of mine in Berlin to skating the infamous (and generally inaccessible) Volcom private skatepark. Diving with leopard sharks on Catalina Island to a desert walk-about in Death Valley. Covers of national magazines and books in the US and covers of magazines and newspapers in Germany. Features on German television, trail running further than ever before and getting groovy on a six string, lots of good things!
